Decision Hearing September 30

In a public hearing Wednesday, September 30, at 5:00 PM, the Board of Trustees of Mendocino Unified School District will decide whether to authorize or deny Caspar Creek’s petition to continue its 20-year success story as a public charter school, but authorized by MUSD. Connect to the Zoom hearing.

Community members will have the option both to communicate their thoughts directly to board members in advance, and to address the board in the public comment section of the hearing. An important question the board will now consider is whether the fact that the same grades are available at Mendocino K-8 means Caspar Creek’s program merely duplicates existing MUSD programs. What is your experience?

Communicating with Board Members

For school boards in general, 2020 has been an unusually busy year, full of challenging decisions. When communicating with board members, it’s important to keep in mind that they are volunteers who deserve appreciation and acknowledgement for the crucial role they play, and for the solemn commitment they’ve made to act in the best interests of students residing in their district—all students.
